8 Feb 1982 – Miraflores Colombia, under aircraft explosion
one person was killed and four wounded.
1983 – BCCI got 49% of Banco mercantile, a 24 branch
Colombian bank, later renamed Banco de Credito y Comercio de Colombia. One of
the board members was Rodrigo Llorente who was one of the richest politicians
in Colombia.
1983 – BCCI got its Colombian bank and added seven new
branches over the next four years while its assets grew to $213 million. Drug

cartel leader who stashed millions in BCCI.

6 Nov 1985 – 35 M-19 guerrillas attacked the Colombian
palace of justice in Bogota. They held 250 hostages, many justices of Colombia.

13 Nov 1985 – Armero city in Tolima was destroyed, flooding,
and the eruption of Nevado del Ruiz volcano. The Armeno tragedy. 20,000 dead

4 Feb 1987 – Drug dealer Carlos Lehder was arrested at a

13 Jan 1988 – A huge bomb exploded outside the Monaco 8
storey apartment building owned by Escobar in Medellin. The blast killed 2
nightwatchmen and dug a 13 foot hole in the street. The blast shattered windows

1989 – People were arrested and detained without being
