1950s – The Chinese nationalist KMT efforts in the Golden triangle also involve the CIA. Colonel Paul Helliwell operated the Transport company that flew supplies from Thailand to the KMT in Monghsat. (Merchants of madness. B Lintner M Black ©2009 Thailand).

1957-64 – In 1957 at the start of the Vietnam war, there were at least 19,000 sex slaves in Thailand, seven military bases, the US navy invested $16,000,000 in the Thai economy each year. In 1964 sex exploitation. 300,000 American brothels. “comfort women” in war zones. Korea and Japan military brothels, created by the Japanese military during World War Two. 1975 – Vasily Ivanovich Timofeyev Thailands KGB agent intel service. Journalist cover in Bangkok 1975. Returned in 1993. Nikolai Petrovich a KGB resident in Thailand. In 1975 in Bangkok the Vietnam war had ended. The US had some military bases in Thailand after the war. The KGB were interested  in these bases. 1981 – A Regional conference of CIA station chiefs was held in Bangkok Thailand. Attending was Howard Hart who  wanted weapons for the Afghan Mujahadeen from Pakistan.

Jan 1991 – In an FBI undercover op code named Dragon Chase, the FBI in New York seized 28 pounds of China white heroin and got indictments on ten people in the US and Thailand, with the main subject arrested in Bangkok for drug trafficking

1994 – It was a Hezbollah cell in Thailand that in 1994, almost, drove a truck laden with explosives into the Israeli embassy in Bangkok.

17 March 1994 – Hezbollah terrorists tried to bomb the Israeli embassy in Bangkok. The attack failed because the terrorists got in a car accident and fled the scene. The government later found C4 explosives in the car. Hezbollah has a long record of plotting terrorist attacks in south east Asia (The Australian 9 June 2003)

1996 – Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn university estimated that $28.5 billion went through Thailand’s money laundering system, the equivalent to 15% of Thai GDP.

1 Oct 1999 – Burmese embassy seizure. Burmese dissidents seized the Burmese embassy in Bangkok, taking 89 people hostage including one US citizen.

15 Jan 2000 – Nawaf Alhazmi and Khalid Almidhar fly into Los Angeles from Bangkok Thailand. Both became suicide hijackers on 9/11.

21 Nov 2006 – The Moroccan govt reported that a key aide to Ayman al Zawahiri recently travelled to Morocco using a Thai passport, pretending to be an Asian antiques dealer. His object was to coordinate the activities of a number of terrorist groups in North Africa.
